BELGRADE- Open Sport City
European Championships in Kayak-Canoe for Juniors and U23 Flatwater Racing will be held in Belgrade, on Ada Ciganlija Lake, between August 30 and September 2, 2007.
Canoe Federation of Serbia and the City of Belgrade will welcome over a thousand competitors from 43 countries, coaches, team leaders, foreign reporters, international sport officials and many sport fans from all over the world. With great effort, work, and mostly with the enthusiasm of sport workers, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (The Department of Education and Sport) and the City of Belgrade, all the partners who took part in the international kayak sport event, the preparations are underway. So far, five World Championships in Kayak and Canoe were held in Belgrade. Last World Championship in Kayak-Canoe for Juniors and U23 was held in 1987. About the preparations for the largest international sport manifestation in 2007, the President of the Canoe Federation of Serbia and three times World and Olympic canoe champion, Mr. Mirko Nisovic says: “I am very proud of the fact that The Canoe Federation of Serbia is organizing one such great and significant sport manifestation. I have the honour and pleasure of inviting all the countries, members of the European Federation, Athletes, Team Leaders, Coaches, Officials and Referees to come to Belgrade to European Championships in Kayak-Canoe and take part in the biggest sport manifestation in Serbia in 2007”.
